When it comes to your orthodontist's food list, it is important to follow his or her guidelines closely. The foods that an orthodontist will suggest to help with mouth alignment are those foods that you can eat. It is not good to experiment with different foods while getting braces. If they don't agree with what you want to put in your mouth, then you may have to choose another type of orthodontics treatment. The following is a list of a few of the most important foods to avoid while undergoing dental braces:
Nuts.
Hard, crunchy nuts can be extremely difficult to chew. This is especially true
when you are having trouble getting used to wearing braces. For many people,
the use of nuts will mean that they have to take out their dentures after
dinner, which will lead to yet another food concern: How will they get their
teeth cleaned without the denture dangling from them?
Candy.
Most dentists will not recommend that you eat hard candy, but some may consider
candies between meals as well. While you may have no problem chomping down on a
piece, you may want to avoid eating them during the time that you are wearing
braces because of how acidic they can be.
Sticky
Foods. Some foods are made so that they will stay as sticky as possible.
Coffee, chocolate, candy and sticky pastries are examples. When you are having
your braces put in, it is important to remember to refer back to your
orthodontist's food list. These sticky items will make it harder for you to
keep your food down to where it should be so that it doesn't stick to your
braces food list or cause them to decay.
Foods
That Must Be Avoided. This is a long list that is just as long as the brace
itself. Things like grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, onions, vinegar and jams
will definitely need to be avoided. The same goes for fatty meats like bacon,
hamburger, processed meat and sausage. If you were thinking of having your
braces put in only last week, this is the best snacks to avoid because you
probably will not have any pear cactus fruit available to munch on between
meals. This also goes for citrus fruits, pretzels, nuts and chips, and most
candy.
Non-ograms
Snacks. If you don't know what a real graphogram is, then you probably won't
want to eat pretzels with wires on them. Pretzels without the wires are the
closest we can get to a real graphogram, and they are easy to recognize as
well. You can include rolls (such as Reeboks), hot dogs, pretzel sticks, Reebok
sport bars and many other types of rolls and treats with no wires.
Foods
That May Be Okay If Your Braces Are Invisalign. Surprisingly enough, nuts are
okay when you have braces. The same holds true for grapefruit, oranges,
carrots, celery sticks and other fruits that may have something to do with the
metal braces. Just make sure you do not use words that are difficult for people
who cannot read to read properly.
Foods That May Be Okay If You Have Invisalign. Here's another tip: Most people with braces put their food choices on the big plate in the morning. There are three small plates to be carried around throughout the day. As you may have guessed, it is impossible to take several small meals each day, so the best solution is to have your protein and healthy snacks on the small plates and share the plate items with others. That way, you are able to still enjoy soft foods like toast, eggs and fruits, but you also won't feel the need to chew hard foods all morning long.More information about: https://cardsdental.com/
